Sickness Absence

Employee absence is a major operational cost often accounting for 3-7% of wage roll. Assessment and support for employees absent due to sickness helps to promote their recovery and early return to work, constraining costs and retaining valued employees.

Support for sick employees may involve cooperation with GP and hospital medical services in treatment arrangements, providing access to treatment services such as counselling or physiotherapy (stress and musculo-skeletal conditions jointly account for 70% of all absences) and arranging early return to work in rehabilitation programmes to promote recovery and assure safe working.
