Annual Lead

Since the Introduction of the
Control of Lead at Work Regulations 1998 employees are required to undergo an annual
medical if they are exposed to lead at work.
The regulations apply to any work from which lead
arises in the form:
- of lead dust, fume or vapour
which could be inhaled.
- in which it is liable to be ingested (powder,dust,paint or
paste)
- of lead compounds which could be absorbed through the
skin
If work includes any type of activity including the handling, movement, storage, processing, disposal repair and maintenance of lead then an annual health assessment must be performed by a occupational health professional.
